Photography – Tulsa

I\'m a geologist, adventurer, and photographer. I spent a year in an Icelandic school at age 13, and another year at the University of Iceland between college degrees, and I am reasonably fluent in Icelandic, though I have no Icelandic bloodline. My Master\'s thesis was completed on Baffin Island, NWT, Arctic Canada. My field assistant Ed, Nanook, a dog we rescued from the dog pound in what used to be called Frobisher Bay, now Iqaluit, and I were dropped off by a ski plane in a snow-covered world. We spent the following weeks exploring the surrounding terrain on cross country skis as the snow covered world emerged from beneath the snowpack. Once the sea ice pack broke up, we moved about via Zodiac inflatables, coping with the 13 meter tidal range daily in our travels. We returned to civilization 8 weeks later via the inflatables, arriving back in Frobisher Bay, where we discovered that there were still other humans on the planet. For this I was glad, but quiet places in the outdoors are still what recharges my batteries, often with camera in hand. My technical and artistic skills as a photographer have taken a quantum jump through my affiliation with PHOTOG, The “Photographers of Tulsa Oklahoma Group.” My work has been honored in local and regional photo competitions. I look forward to many more years enjoying, celebrating, and capturing wonders of God’s creation.
