Deer Park Avenue

Music – San Francisco

Deer Park Avenue is a band of two sisters who like making rock music. They\'ve been called rock, pop, power-pop, and alternative -- high energy, fun, melodic, with an old school punk edge -- a sound as rich and eclectic as the music that made them. Sarah and Stephanie Snyder started Deer Park Avenue way before they even thought of the name. At ages 7 and 10 they were playing drums and guitar together on some of their favourite Beatles tunes and were putting together mini concerts for friends and family and other captive audiences. They went from playing pop songs in their living room to covers at talent shows and festivals, and quickly started writing songs together, even though they wouldn\'t play them for anyone but the family cat for years to come. By their teen years, they moved with their parents to Switzerland, where they started a church and a cover band, and they\'ve been wandering the world ever since. With the mother from India and father from Southern California, they\'ve grown up in an international setting of cultures, languages, food, and music. Their father is a pastor and author, and they\'ve been able to play music for hundreds of people in churches between our time in the States and Europe. Defying any normal sense of stability and tradition, they share time between California, France, Switzerland, New York, Germany, meeting people and playing shows and making music whenever and wherever they can, always chasing another new adventure, sharing their songs and love for rock \'n\' roll with the friends they meet along the way. Their first release, City Streets [EP], was a small collection of songs they recorded with the amazing Matt Bissonette, their producer and musical hero. Matt co-produces their projects with them and generally keeps them out of trouble and mayhem when they\'re in the studio (although sometimes he is part of it). They have also gotten to play with their other musical hero, Gregg Bissonette, at his clinics in Europe and in the States, and on Deer Park Ave\'s original song Millionaire, which is on their upcoming release. Their new release, Stop and Go will be out soon on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and available at gigs starting in September.
