Visual Art – Detroit

I am a self-taught visual artist and jewelry maker. I learned these skills as a way to cope with my constant pain. For over 10 years, I suffered from nerve pain as the result of an auto-related accident. I now have chronic pain and living with pain can take a big toll on ones mental and emotional health. People living with chronic pain are more likely to suffer from depression and to experience social isolation. Chronic pain can make you feel like you’re not yourself anymore, and like you’ve lost control over your life. Learning these skills have helped me to reclaim ownership of my life. "Art has helped me to create something unique. It has also provided a powerful form of self-expression as well as a creative outlet.”
