Dondi

I was born in Austin, TX, 985, and I was raised in Santa Monica, CA, . I came back to my roots to Austin in 2007. I took an interest in art at a very young age. As I got older my interest grew from using How to Draw and Paint books to observational work focusing on nature and the human figure. I became very interested in the human figure. My parents enrolled me into a private art academy outside of school at 13 where I studied drawing and painting from live nude models. My Art interest led to enrolling into Santa Monica College and was in an Art Mentorship Program. After some years In my mid 20's life got buzzy and I stopped creating work. At 30 years old I realized a part of who I am had been missing. I started painting again in 2015. If you can make a living doing something you love well then it's not really a job. It's taking something your passionate about and making it a life. A professor I had once said... "Work cannot be generated without words, without experience there are no words" -Ron Davis. For me, it's through the light and dark, I see the color in life and make it beautiful with every thrust of a brush for every drop of paint. I am an artist, I am Dondi .
