Sera Blvd

Visual Art – Los Angeles

Sera Blvd is a Los Angeles based tactile artist, born in El Salvador. Ever since the age of 5, Sera has vivid memories of giving her dolls makeovers, altering their images and upcycling their wardrobes. Eventually by the age of 10, she learned how to do a few basic hand stitches. New to this idea of sewing, she taught herself how to hand-stitch until her aunt encouraged her mother to buy her a sewing machine when she turned 15. As her talent progressed, Sera began to fully develop her style and technique in high school, which brought recognition by the State of California Arts Council in 2002. Sera Blvd attended programs at Cal Arts and Idyllwild Arts Academy, where she studied printmaking, digital media, and later, encaustic monotype. It was at Cal Arts that a professor said something that would forever stick with her: “You’re either gonna get an F because you’re going to be someone famous or an F because you failed.” To Sera, it was never about failing but it was always about the “flow” in her journey. Through her journey, hardwork and dedication, Sera Blvd continues to evolve and adopt new methods to her ever-changing art- meanwhile she’s currently balancing a full-time job. Sera Blvd’s artistry is always playful, free-spirited and versatile.
