The crux of Eli Carolina’s photographic style seeks to probe the incongruence between a person’s inner and outer world. By the same token, the images challenge the outmoded social paradigm perpetuating a split between a person\'s truth of being (art) and their being in the world. When the creative possibility of a person is negated, they are powerless to manifest their inner visions into working realities. Apathy, detachment and fear replace passion, engagement and creativity. Eli’s greater intent is to free viewers from this perceptual distortion, conveying instead the beauty, joy and truth that is life when one can offer the fullness of there selves to the world. The dreamy undertones echoed by the images invite the viewer to inquiry on the nature of this relationship with a spirit of play and ardent wonder. The realities depicted are extended statements on the creative power of imagination—of the image-making power of the human psyche. One who lives the creative way will see their world evolve around their inner vision, creating an environment in which that vision can develop and flourish. That is, we are architects of our reality.
