Visual Art – Minneapolis

Emily is a self taught collage artist, residing in Minneapolis Minnesota. Emily’s freestyle collage incorporates layers of cut paper with string, found objects, beads, stickers, paint, and lots of glue. Each EmLavArt original collage is uniquely three-dimensional and takes anywhere from 40 to 140 hours to complete. Even though Emily was artistic and creative throughout her schooling, and spent most of her free time creating handmade cards for her loved ones, Emily graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Major in Communications. After graduation she worked as travel agent, sales representative, art teacher, waitress, and counselor. In 2012, while working as an Employment Representative helping adults with disabilities find gainful employment, Emily realized that while she was helping others follow their passions in search for the right job, she wasn’ t following her own. “If you want to be an artist, you just have to make art.” So that’s what she decided to do! In 2014 Emily officially launched her small business, EmLavArt, and has since created over twenty-five originals, a website, booth arrangement, and two-dimensional prints. While the artist still works in group homes, but her full time focus is EmLavArt, creating artwork and learning out how to share it with others.
