Visual Art – New York - NYC
Inspired by the works of Escher and Dali - coupled with a personal passion for black and white photography - my work has a surrealist undertone in both technique and overall composition. My current series focuses on architecture in NYC, specific to bridges. Using my own photography as creative reference; dynamic and exaggerated perspectives are showcased in my work with the use of foreshortening and chiaroscuro techniques. Each piece spotlights a window that accentuates an attribute (i.e. cables, stones, arches) of that particular image in 3D, thus creating an illusionary use of dimension and time. Where necessary, color is incorporated to sharpen focus on the intricate elements and details that live within the monochromatic space. My composition reflects the structure within the boundaries of steel and stone…framing my subject, rather than bleeding it from edge to edge.
