Essence Hamer

My name is Essence Hamer, I was born and raised in Nashville, TN. I’m 21 years old, a mom to two children, and a college student at Belmont University. I began dancing at the age of 7. The first type of dancing that I ever did was praise dancing in the church. I was in and out of that until I was 16. I began to show interest in hip hop around the age of 10. Although, I didn't get a chance to perform hip-hop until I was 14 years old. I joined the half-timers team at my high school. Later that year, I became a majorette. I was a majorette from my sophomore year until my senior year of high school. After graduating high school in 2016, I did not start back dancing until 2018, when I was pregnant with my second child. I started taking dance classes from different creatives here in Nashville. It is now a year and a half later and I have decided to create my own art! Dance is my way of expressing myself and I don’t know where I’d be today without it!
