Visual Art – New Orleans
The paintings of artist Michelle Levine have been defined by a childhood in 1970’s New York- its look dominated by Pop Art, two decades of living in the visually rich city of New Orleans, and a career in the production arts. Michelle earned a degree in Communications with a minor in Fine Arts from the University of New Orleans. The artist also studied drawing, color theory, sculpture and painting at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts.
The iconic subjects painted in a serial style are an ongoing exploration of composition and scale alternating between dynamic and monochromatic palettes with the desire to surround the viewer with her current obsession. Michelle also creates large-scale murals for theater and events, as well as residential and commercial spaces across the United States and in Europe. Her fine art exhibitions have received glowing reviews in many publications, both locally and nationally. Her post-Katrina project \"Signs of the Times\" was funded in part by the Joan Mitchell Foundation and has caught the attention of art aficionados worldwide.
