Photography – Chicago

My mother tells me that she knew there was something different about me because before I was all the way out of the birthing canal, I was turning my head trying to see what was going on. When she finally gave that final ‘push’, two things happened: they discovered that I was a ‘nosey little girl’ and I was nicknamed ‘Curious Christine’. I don’t mind it because that curiosity has guided me through life, fueled my imagination and creativity, ultimately leading me to my chosen profession- Photography. My love of photography started with pictures. Not taking them, but looking at them. I would gaze at them for hours trying to soak up everything about the images. I would even making up stories about what was happening when the image was taken. When I was a teenager, my parents bought me a Polaroid camera and I was hooked. I carried it everywhere and took pictures of literally everything. Over the years, the cameras became more advanced and life more complicated, but I’ve always had my pictures. I believe that I have the ability to see and show beauty, as well as highlight the story behind things and people that no one would notice unless I photograph them. Whether in studio, or out in nature, I want the world to see what I see; that behind every facial expression, product, tree, flower or sunset, there is immense beauty and a wonderful story.
