Fashion – Dallas - Fort Worth
F E R R A H is a Dallas-based womenswear line designed by recent Parsons graduate, Lela Orr.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Lela developed an early interest in fashion from her artistic family - her father, an artist and former singer/songwriter and mother, an accomplished violinist. Since childhood, music was a source of inspiration for Lela and continues to shape her eye for fashion design. As a teenager, Lela developed a deep passion for couture fashion and fashion history, but after realizing she could not afford the high prices of couture garments, Lela's family encouraged her to create her own clothes.
Prior to her life as a designer, Lela attended Tulane University in New Orleans where she obtained her Bachelors in Business with a focus in Legal Studies. After graduation, Lela set her sights on New York City to pursue her passion and attend the prestigious Parsons School of Fashion. After years of internships and apprenticeships at fashion houses stateside and trips abroad, Lela decided to start her own label, F E R R A H, where everything is sourced and produced in the U.S. In September 2015, Lela showed her debut collection at Fashion X Dallas and later, at Southern Design Week in New Orleans.
A sophisticated yet provocative collection influenced by music and contemporary culture, F E R R A H exemplifies the complexity of the modern woman. It speaks to vulnerability and strength, to the hard and the soft within each every person—a balance of contradictions. Designed with a focus on construction, balance, and couture craftsmanship, each F E R R A H collection serves the woman who sees beauty through the lens of contradiction, modernity, and luxury.
