Craft – San Diego

Katie Francis is a ceramic artist and potter based in San Diego, California. She received her undergraduate degree in mathematics with a minor in visual arts at Clemson University, and is now working towards her MFA with an emphasis in ceramics at San Diego State University. Her current work explores the act of remembrance and the fragility of memory through utilitarian objects. She has participated in exhibitions and craft shows across the nation, including San Diego State University’s 2020 Student Award Exhibition, where she received the Aztec Shops Award. Her work has recently been featured in Small Favors XV: Expanding the Field at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia and in Lip Service, an exhibition at the Saratoga Clay Arts Center in Schuylerville, New York. Francis is also a ceramics instructor at the Lux Art Center in Encinitas, California, and assisted classes at the Anderson Arts Center in Anderson, South Carolina.
