Gallo Glass
Craft – San Jose
Jorge Gallo is a multi-media artist residing in Oakland, moving from Santa Cruz in 2011 after studying printmaking, photography, painting, and digital media in Cabrillo College. A classmate sold his first torch to him and he started in his garage until getting hired to teach flameworking in Berkeley. Since then he has taught various studios in the Bay Area and continues to teach at Public Glass in San Francisco.
Sculpting is what keeps challenging his skill and vision - specifically birds and the human form. Glass has a way to break the artist if they are not truly focused on the craft - which was a humbling lesson since most mediums came naturally. This craft continues to bring new obstacles and discoveries.
