GangstaHippie Art

Visual Art – Atlanta

Gangsta Hippie: a noun, adjective, and verb. A contradiction and an oxy-moron...and in every way, me! In life, we go through a bunch of sh*t, but the glorious part is using that same said sh*t, as a fertilizer to cultivate some organically rich ass soil to grow from! I’ve seen some things, done some things, and been a few things; but I needed a way to accept the choices I made in life and have no regrets about it. A way of being encouraging to myself and confident in who I felt I was growing to be. Art became my catalyst. I used it to self-express, think, process, and wonder in my wander...! My so called uglies, turned into some beautiful works of art! With music being an escape for me as well, I began using it to move and motivate my art. I paint the melodies I hear, the rhythms I see, the interpreted emotions I feel. One of my first pieces, (once I realized I had a gift), was to Lil Wayne's song "Shoot Me Down" off the album, Tha Carter III. That album was me! That song represented exactly what I was feeling, and his lyrics resonated to me…and I wanted to paint them. It was from that moment on, I learned that by creating a piece of art, my inner emotions, secret thoughts, and unabashed feelings could be transformed into something tangible and real; something beyond words! I create art that reflects; art that resonates; art to introspect...I am my art and my art is me!
