Visual Art – Los Angeles
Los Angeles based artist, busy raising two great kids with partner. Between cheffing and chauffeuring, I make art.
Art came naturally to me in high school; however, I became acutely aware of my gift when I started creating work comparable to that of the art students with whom I associated during the late Eighties in Boston. Everything was an art supply, instantly. My work evolved into miniature sterling silver and copper wire jewelry sculpture. A bad decision took me to Buffalo, NY, where I occupied myself with charcoal on canvas studies, during my down time, waiting for AIDS to take me. It didn't. I came back to LA and started my new "book". With a full life ahead of me, I met my partner of 17 years, 8 months later. I took classes in jewelry design at Santa Monica College, shortly after my return home to California. Instruction in monotype printmaking in Florence, Italy, with USC School of Fine Arts, Dean, Ruth Weisberg, led to me designing and constructing a printing press. I was kept busy for several years making monotype/drawings, which I've shown for over a decade. I have since received instruction in, and spent a great deal of time creating, porcelain and stone sculptures, and abstract oil paintings.
With my busy family life, digital painting is an ideal way for me to create something every day. To that end I've committed to posting a work a day on Instagram. Just "follow me" to keep up.
