Gil Riego Photography

Photography – Ventura

As a freelance photographer for various publications, Gil Riego Jr. has had work published nationwide including SF Weekly, Sunset Magazine and the upcoming August GQ magazine. Beginning his photographic adventure in 1998 with film, he has evolved in both medium styles. Never wanting to be pigeonholed in a specific style, Gil has focused in the adaptable field of photojournalism where he gets opportunities to cover major events, produce portraits and everything in between. Since his winding his first roll of film Gil has acquired three Associate degrees in journalism, photojournalism and liberal arts from Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA. Currently he is in his final year in San Francisco State University working on his bachelor\'s in Journalism with a photojournalism emphasis. He is currently working on the third year of his 365 Days project, taking at least one photo a day of any theme/genre between midnight and midnight. Gil\'s personal style he likes to practice on his days off is called the street portrait. Taking the gritty realism aspect of street photography and incorporating the photo-journalistic guideline of always having a subject. Whether it be traditional portraits, event photography, riots or landscapes, Gil will always find a use for his cameras.
