Visual Art – Charlotte

I am a painter that deals mainly with women’s issues through an autobiographical approach. I find that working through issues in my own life through art helps me to identify with my emotions; hopefully my art serves the same purpose for others. Because I am so insecure about my body, a large portion of my work involves the nude female body. I aim to create a sense of depth, conceptually and visually. The human body inspires me; I am able to express the hidden desire for self-destructive behavior and how an individual can consciously change that path. Living with bipolar disorder can be very difficult. I find myself struggling and changing daily, but using art as an outlet plays a major role in my healing process. I find myself on an “emotional roller-coaster” at times; at the same time I know that without this disorder, my canvas would be blank and my ideas would be lost in translation. When life gets hard some of my best work is produced.
