Honey Butters

Visual Art – Toronto

Alida Morris, the artist behind Honey Butters, uses her unique visual language and medium to explore and express queer, femme, multi-racial identity, and relationships with community and the self. Powerful femmes are painted with reverence in oil-based enamel on glass, giving the viewer a glimpse into their world. A signature of Alida's work is bright colours that glow under blacklight, using a different way of looking to reveal an alternate dimension. Collage and digital art elements bring texture to these hidden worlds. Through exploration of her chosen media, Alida shows that there is always more under the surface than expected.
