Malie Flores

Visual Art – Houston

Born in Houston Texas the 29-year-old Malie Flores Started his journey with abstract art. What started out as mediocre paintings at Woodson K-8 and Worthing high school for grade, turned into his heart driven passion for expressing himself through the paint brush. Flores is self taught. Gaining inspiration from Houston fine arts Museum and Local Houston Graffiti, Flores developed a keen Eye for abstract art. His home town color popped walls and streets plays a huge roll inspiration for his work. Being raised in south east Houston with his mother and one sister Flores faced sacrifice, hardships, and discipline at an early age. These events pushed Flores into a search for escape and release which he found through his profound and intense art work. Color scheme, tools, paint base, and canvas are all inspired by emotion. He tells his story through his brush. Flores has one son and one daughter who encourages his lighter colorful pieces. They are his more relaxed side. The colors are softer in reference and reflection of them. In his younger years Flores experienced street life and expounding risks. In 2013 after his first born, he decided to take a shift in life and focus more on his art and passion. However, the lessons and experience never left his mind. They began to bleed through his brush. He at that point learned to paint with and on any and everything! The heart felt artist uses color as his tears and the canvas as his tissue. Every piece has a story. A story that unfolds the growth and change from a boy to a man, recklessness to responsible, and restraint to release.
