Visual Art – Connecticut

Kiayani Douglas is a 28 year old Artist Educator who is deeply inspired by the Black Panthers Party For Self Defense movement and the artist who made most if not all of their visuals, Emory Douglas (No relation). Douglas uses the 10 point program from the Black Panthers Party to create brave places to talk about similarities in current day injustices and how they relate to what the Black Panther Party advocated for. She is the oldest of 5 and has a family that deeply supports her mission to educate individuals and the world on social injustices and the need to create brave places to talk about them. Douglas is an interdisciplinary artist who works in ceramics, painting, drawing, video and instillation to get her points across and to create conversation. Douglas is a Hartford native that is dedicated to community and creating platforms to talk about art.
