Visual Art – Ventura
For me, art is a journey of exploration. Creating unexpected visual combinations from ordinary experiences is my primary influence. This pushes me to create graphic, contemporary pieces with a playful and youthful edge.
The question that keeps me working and excited about a project is “what if?” The infinite in experimentation is so intriguing. Every piece is an example of an idea followed spontaneously by another.
My interest level is heightened when I do not know of what the medium is capable. This motivates me to use non-traditional materials such as rocks, tiling putty, and doilies (among other things) to help create new textures and give the compositions different layers as the viewer makes their way through each piece.
Not only do I create works through experimentation, I live my life that way. I was raised in snowy Minnesota until I recently decided to relocate myself to a warmer climate that would better harbor my imagination and creativity. The unknown that accompanies an impulsive move 2,000 miles away from home keeps me enthusiastic about the possibilities to come in this so-called life.
