Photography – Boise

I aspire to capture things as they are, to tell the story of the world around me in real terms. This means I generally avoid portraits and posed photographs, as they reflect a manipulation of an experience. Similarly, I don’t use on-or off-camera flashes. I like the challenge of creating an interesting image from the subject’s unaltered environment. There are times when I do embrace a bit of fiction by shooting poses in the context of real-life events, using continuous lighting or by using High Dynamic Range processing to enhance the essence of the moment. I currently almost exclusively use fully-manual lenses, primarily a 50mm prime. I find it forces me to slow down and figure out the shot rather than use the burst-and-hope method in which I tend to get trapped with digital photography.
