Visual Art – Toronto

My name is Kevin Jenkins and I am a visual artist specializing in painting and drawing. I work and live within downtown Toronto and am also currently attending OCAD University. My primary medium for creating images is painting with acrylic paint on either canvas or boards of masonite with this method of representation I prefer to create more surreal depictions and rely more on imagination to render the image oppose to using photographic or life reference to establish its dimensions and colour values. Secondary to this I also draw extensively with graphite pencils and use this method to strictly create photo realistic monochromatic portraitures based off of my own photos. I find that using these two different methods of representation, drawing and painting to create two completely different types of work able excellent contrast to one another when viewed as a set. Through my artwork I am attempting to break into my subconscious mind and pull out unique visions that represent the many facets of my being. Creating art and bringing personalized and unique visions into this world is not only a cathartic act for myself but the primary aspect of my life. My true purpose in this world is to create art and spread my ideas and images across the globe to inspire change and generate new profound ideas.
