Jessie St Clair

Visual Art – Calgary

Jessie St. Clair is a painter influenced by laughter, friendships, travel, and the nonsense of reality. St. Clair’s paintings are often representations of people and places that have somehow inspired her to record. Utilizing a variety of painting methods and materials allows her to express a theme, while inviting the viewer to interpret the images through their own memories and experiences. In 2010 St. Clair earned a BFA in studio concentration with distinction at the University of Calgary. She is proud to be Calgarian and passionate about the rapidly growing arts and culture scene in this city. Currently, St. Clair and four other artists joined forces and opened Studio Cartel, a full service production studio and artist collective. Working as a team they have been able to utilize a wide range of skills to make larger scale projects such as an interactive sculpture for Beakerhead Festival, a stage design for Ted X YYC, an installation in Wreck City, and an installation for the National Music Centre’s Out Loud Galla 2014.
