Visual Art – Houston

My work is a combination of the science and the abstract. I attempt to visually demonstrate the connections we make through communication, using cellular imagery and fibrous materials in my work. These connections, as well as blockades, that we encounter when using digital media inspire and push my work. Textual communication in particular piques my interest, and the misconceptions that surround it. I have heard the phrase, more than once, about how it allows one to distance themselves from emotion. While this does allow the writer some time to carefully construct their words, by no means is emotion fully separated from the words. The only emotional distance achieved is the monotone voice that reaches the recipient of the words, and how the recipient must then fill in the blank space with emotion. Without direct contact, it is easier to misinterpret the original writer\'s thoughts without being able to see or speak to them.
