Music – Connecticut

Queens birthed me, Harlem raised me. English Is My Second Language, music is my first. Jimmy Vo is a rapper and producer whose chill beats woven with raw storytelling helps him connect with listeners. “I want to sound like me talking to anybody. Anybody who’s listening, sitting down talking to them about whatever,” he said in an early interview. Although he was raised in Harlem and now lives in Connecticut, his roots continue to influence his work. He is influenced by artists such as JAY-Z, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, and T.I. At 32 years old, Jimmy Vo continues to share stories in his music whether it’s rapping over or producing a laidback beat that mentally ease your mind. He strives to make his sound as diverse as possible, especially with sharing about his everyday life—both good and bad times. In 2020, he released Tuna’s Son, which was one of his most personal projects. As he continues to share his talent with the world, we get a deeper sense of who Jimmy Vo is and a sense of what his music journey has been. He also shares his talents with live performances and showcases at venues including SOBs, MajorStage, and a part of the Raw Artist Collective.
