John Vargo

Visual Art – Denver

John M. Vargo is a painter and glass artist born in Syracuse, New York and is the son of Fran and John Vargo Jr., award winning artist and illustration professor for over three decades at Syracuse University. “I am very proud of my father; his creativity, kindness and desire to help others learn the beauty and techniques of illustration.” Currently residing in beautiful Colorado, John (M.) is grateful to his soul mate, Alicia, for being his muse and supporting him to become an artist, perhaps his true calling. “My style is to have no set style or technique”, says Vargo. His approach to painting is simple: freedom. Vargo paints with no pretense or studied technique, which allows him the mental freedom to be in the moment and flow with the piece as it is being created. He uses anything and everything available to create an interesting piece. “If I don’t find it interesting, why would anyone else?” The artist is known for his use of bright colors and bold contrasts. “My desire is to create, for the most part, pieces that are bright and cheerful, while also having the needed WOW factors of depth and complexity. I wish to paint a piece that grabs ones attention with color, contrast and form. The piece must also be able to hold the attention of the observer as they continue to discover numerous areas of interest and beauty.”
