Music – New Orleans

Kaitlin Absent is multi-instrumentalist from New Iberia, Louisiana. Because of the distinct culture that surrounded her, she began her music career at the age of 5 on piano primarily. She is able to play several woodwind, brass, and string instruments. Kaitlin has attended art schools and has been included in the Gifted and Talented programs for music. Kaitlin has performed at several churches, funerals, parties, and weddings etc... In May of 2016, Kaitlin was invited to participate for the Carnegie Hall High School Honors Performance Series in New York. In 2017, Kaitlin has competed in New Orleans and Baltimore for the NAACP Actso program, where she received 2 gold medals in music. She currently teaches music lessons to four students, and does community service in her school and city. Kaitlin plans to open a music center as a hang out for future generations to be productive, well behaved, and safe. In July of 2018, Kaitlin was granted the opportunity to travel and perform in San Antonio, where she networked with talented individuals, such as Anthony Burrell, Major, and Anthony Anderson. In November of 2018, Kaitlin was crowned as Westgate High School’s Homecoming Queen. In May of 2019, Kaitlin has graduated from Westgate High School with honors. Kaitlin was awarded a scholarship to study abroad in London. Kaitlin recently performed at the NBA Pelican’s Basketball game in October of 2019. Kaitlin is expected to attend Berklee College of Music in the summer of 2019
