Music – New Orleans

A high performance singer and songwriter, Kara Mann, combines her unique vision and musical stylings to create timeless lyrics laced with irony and beguiling melodies. Kara’s background is deeply rooted in the jazz, blues and soul music of New Orleans introduced to her by her grandfather, a jazz violinist and music historian. At an early age she became a mainstay in New Orleans musical theater then went on to front her uncle’s retro band, Flambeaux and later belt out the big band sounds for The Jimmy Maxwell Orchestra. By 14, she was writing her own music. After graduating from New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, she headed to Nashville attending Belmont University while recording her own songs at Sorted Noise Studios as well as writing for others including American Idol Finalist, Jasmine Murray. Recently returning to New Orleans, she continues her music industry studies at Loyola University while continuing to songwrite with some of the city’s giant talents. Now, at just 21, she has already established a reputation among many music industry giants with whom she has collaborated – Donny Markowitz (Academy Award winning composer), Kevin DeClue (songwriter/producer for Hiliary Duff), Rick Bacchus (writer/producer for Bactstreet Boys), and currently collaborating with Jim McCormick (CMA winner Jason Aldean). Kara has three singles and a 5 song album, Blackmail available on iTunes. A music video and another album is due for release spring 2013.
