Katherine Foote

Performing Art – Newcastle

Katherine Foote has danced from age six and competed successfully in numerous eisteddfods. In 2011 Katherine travelled to Los Angeles to appear in the Dance Around the World American Tour performing at Disneyland and Hollywood. In the same year she was awarded the Ministry of Dance full dance scholarship from renowned dancer and choreographer Jason Coleman in Melbourne. Her third accolade for 2011 was taking out the full money scholarship at the Bathurst Eisteddfod. In 2012 Katherine was accepted into the National College of Dance by invitation where she completed her Certificate IV in Dance and Elite Performance. In the same year Katherine toured with a contemporary piece “KLASH” choreographed by Alfred Taahi and Brett Morgan and accompanied by a live Orchestra. In 2013, Katherine was a Jazz Group finalist at the Sydney Opera House and competed by invitation at the Dance of Champions in Sydney. In the same year Katherine was awarded overall best and highest scoring contemporary dancer at the NCD. In 2014 Katherine graduated with her Diploma in Dance and Elite Performance at the National College of Dance. Throughout the year Katherine performed with the National Theatre Company in Newcastle in a commissioned dance work, “TROIKA” choreographed by Isabelle Leonard. In 2015 she was a featured soloist dancer and ensemble member in the sold out season of Jesus Christ Superstar by The National Theatre Company in Newcastle. In the same year Katherine choreographed and danced in "Fusion - a night filled with music and dance" created by Cyrus Meurant at the Riverside Theatre in Sydney. Katherine was also asked to perform in the end of year production of "Romeo and Juliet" as "Lady Capulet" but The National College of Dance, that was accompanied by The Nexas Saxophone Quartet, Cyrus Meurant and Composer Matthew Hindson. In 2016 Katherine became choreographer for "Evita" produced by The National Theatre Company. As well as being the choreographer she performed as the lead Argentine Tango dancer and was a member of the ensemble. Katherine currently teaches at the highly renowned National College of Dance in Lambton.
