Photography – Melbourne
Katie is a Melbourne based photographer, studying visual arts at Melbourne Polytechnic. She has been practising photography for the last 5 years. Katies passion for photography was first sparked by the music that was being made around her. Katie frequently took photos at her friends gigs she quickly became a sought after photographer in the Sydney music scene, touring up and down the east coast with multiple bands. In 2013 Katie became the photographer of independent record label “Goats Eat Records.”
In her own person work, she interested in exploring analog photography, manually creating multiple exposures to create surreal and ambiguous images. Leaving the viewer with mixed interpretations of what the message behind the photos might be. Her work is focused on depicting the female body without sexualising or exploiting it. It could be said that ultimately her goal is to make nature the subject of the photos, through the lens of the female body.
Self portraits are a major part of Katies art. She is the muse to her own creativity. Katie uses self portraits as a form of self expression and connection to herself and the world around her.
