Katie Hennessey

As a photographer, it is my job to tell a story through still images. I feel that my images are both nostalgic and poetic. With every picture that I take, it is my goal to have that photograph linger in the viewer’s head. I’m hoping that my photographs will reveal the magic in the every day, opening a door to a world where not just children, but everyone, will seek beauty in the simple moments. Growing up in Lancaster County Pennsylvania, I have always had a close connection with the earth. I grew up spreading seeds of wildflowers throughout the front yard, running around with bare feet, memorizing which moments of the day that the gold soaked sun illuminated the ivy tendrils, which delicately climbed up the side of my house. From a very young age I was fascinated with the smells of the earth and how it was stirred up during autumns harvest. I sprouted from a seed and blossomed into a young woman who loves to explore and capture the quiet poetic moments that the little girl inside of me has instilled in her mind. A large majority of my photographs are peaceful moments that every country girl recognizes; they are of things that make me who I am today.
