Katie McGinnis

Performing Art – Chicago

Born and raised in Wheaton, IL, Katie McGinnis discovered her love of dance and fitness as a young teenager. She joined Soleunique Dance Company, under the direction of Anthony Foster and Victoria Bunch, where she trained in ballet, lyrical, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and tap. Continuing her training, Katie attended intensives with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, NYC’s Capezio Peridance Center, was a scholarship student at Visceral Dance Center and a work study student at Lou Conte Dance Studio. Katie also spent three seasons with NoMi Dance Company, formerly NoMi LaMad Dance, Inc. as a company dancer and soloist. Currently, Katie is thriving on freelance work. She has done industrials for UPS and M.A.C. Cosmetics, has danced back-up in the McDonalds Thanksgiving Day Parade for pop artist Sashé Taylor, has performed and choreographed works for Carnival Choreographer’s Ball Chicago, and has set choreography for Disneyland Hong Kong. Most recently, she was featured on FOX’s hit TV show ‘Empire’, directed by Lee Daniels.
