A love affair with color. As an art major in college I fell in love with color and everything about it. The way it affects moods, different combinations, and just how eye catching it can be! I studied it through painting and by observing my surroundings. Color is everywhere. I have always loved jewelry, but found it to be unexciting because most of it is a gemstone in metal. Where are the color combinations that I love? Just for fun, I thought I’d have a go at making my own jewelry. Boy did I create a monster! I wanted to design jewelry pieces that would make someone really look at the entire thing. To find a technique that would make not just the gemstone stick out, but every detail and color in the piece. I’ve learned many jewelry making techniques and styles, but “Coralization” is my favorite and I have perfected it for my jewelry designs. Coralization creates the look of beaded coral by sewing tiny seed beads into place with a needle and thread. It is light-weight, soft, and flexible, while making us observe every detail in the piece. With coralization, I can work with as little or as much color as I want! From bight neon contrasting colors to subtle delicate pastels, my jewelry is as colorful as the world around us.
