Music – Chicago
Kelsey Edington is a jazz and blues singer in Chicago. She is heavily influenced by Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, and also draws inspiration from contemporary artists like Fiona Apple and Thom Yorke.
Kelsey began singing for audiences at the age of six, performing duets at church with her sisters and participating in local theater productions. She began formal voice training at age twelve at Capital University and, at 16, joined the Eastland Performing Arts Program where she trained in voice, dance, and acting. After graduating from high school, and with her parents' encouragement to pursue her dream of becoming a professional singer, Kelsey attended the University of Akron where she earned her B.A. in classical voice.
While completing her undergraduate degree, Kelsey became increasingly interested in jazz and blues. She has collaborated with both students and professors from the University of Akron's jazz studies program, performing in Northeast Ohio, primarily Akron and Cleveland.
Shortly after Kelsey's college graduation, she moved to Chicago--it seemed a good fit, personally and professionally, and she is loving every minute of it! She is currently working on a jazz, blues, and funk album--all originals--with composer/pianist Philip Anderson.
