Music – New Orleans

Koan is a multi-talented musician/Hip-Hop emcee. Born in New Orleans Louisiana, and raised in the 9th ward. Koan has been on a high in 2013. Koan started the year off by becoming a RAW artist in April. He gained radio airplay from the single \"Til Infinity\" from the \"Homage\" mixtape and worldwide recognition for the single \"Shell Shocked\" from the award winning documentary of the same name. Koan also got the opportunity to open up for and share the stage with hip hop legends \"Souls of Mischief\" in July & recorded and performed with local heroes \"Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes\" track entitled \"We are the Saints\" the \"new\" saints anthem. His commanding presence leaves a remarkable impression that complements his versatile song writing and rhyming abilities. His stage name “Koan”, is a term used in Zen Buddhism that refers to any experience that accompanies awakening, or insight. His music has a way of reaching deep inside of you, hence the reasoning behind him assuming the title “Koan”. In 2004 he got his start as a professional musician/Hip-Hop emcee when Koan became the lyrical front man of the popular N.O. band E.O.E. After their success Koan was inspired to record a solo LP that sparked an immense response from both industry folk and the public at large. Look out for more Koan performances & singles in 2013. He will also be hitting the studio later in the year to start recording his sophomore LP.
