Kwēn Vibrations

Visual Art – Dallas - Fort Worth

My name is Chelci Johnson and I am a self-taught artist from Irving, Texas. I was recently asked what made me start painting and at first I did not have an answer, but I began to think about my very first mural on my coffee table. It was something so small , yet it had such a powerful meaning. After getting such positive feedback when posting the table on social media I decided to just dabble with the brushes and acrylics, each painting improving significantly. Many artists, like I've started to identify myself as , have this mind full of untold encounters and visions of self that they want to discuss but instead put into their art. That is what I feel I do with every single piece I've painted. The story behind the name: Well first, Kwēn, is not how you think its pronounced. When you go look in any dictionary there is usually the word, the way you pronounce the word, and the definition. When I look up the word QUEEN this is how you would pronounce it. I self identify myself as a queen, because I am a strong-willed woman who wants to let everyone know it is okay to praise yourself every now and again. SELF-LOVE is the BEST LOVE. Vibrations: I think most people know that vibrations is the long way of saying vibes. In a sense, I imagine my art is radiating a wave or vibration to people who are in touch with their creative mind. My goal is to give off an energy so strong you do not have to question my confidence within myself or my work. I inadvertently exude "QUEEN VIBES". hence the name I've given my work.
