My name is Evelyn, I am 20 years old and I am a self-taught braider. I have been braiding for about 3 years now. I started braiding when I was a senior in high school. It all began when my cousin grew his hair out and wanted some cornrows done by me. I had no clue what I was doing when it came to prepping the hair, what product to use, or how to manage different hair texture. I started to do my research as the months went by. From there I kept being open to learning more about the braid industry. It became a hobby of mine to braid hair. I created the Instagram account LacedbyEvelyn on January 1st, 2016. I mainly created the account to take pictures of all the braid styles I'd create. Ever since then, the word went around and everyone wanted their hair braided. I started braiding at my house. Fast forward 2 years later, I got the opportunity to work at a barbershop. I love being around creative people and people who support what I do. I am super excited to continue learning and see where this journey takes me. I am truly honored to be apart of the RAW Artist showcase.
