Visual Art – Omaha

Two of my strongest desires are revealed in my art: immediacy and remembrance. I feel an impulse to capture gestures and moments, and fix these to the hazy memories that spin around in my mind. I connect with the humanity in stories, in saints, and in the quiet sincerity of my surroundings. Through the black-and-white mediums of relief and mezzotint printing, I join delicate images with my own iconography. I work in order to understand my thoughts, memories, and faith. To me, the physical act of carving light out of dark, the certainty of something being there or not, is a prayer. In most of my pieces, I return to themes which resonate with all life: meditation, forgetfulness, legacies, death, and simple beauty.
