Lilasuds

My name is Desirée. I'm the owner and soapmaker of Lilasuds. I make creatively crafted soaps handmade in Astoria, NY. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I have been surrounded by art my entire life. I majored in Fine Arts back home. In 2012 I moved to NYC to pursue an education and a career in Fashion Design. I have an obsession with pouring myself into everything I do. As a hobby I have also explored the art of baking since I was 15 years old. About 6-7 years ago I developed severe eczema due to allergies, stress and asthma. This pushed me to learn more about what things are good for the skin and what things I could eliminate to get my skin back to “normal”. After a lot of research and an extensive process of testing and eliminating, I decided that I wanted to have a direct hand in what I was using on my skin and researched the art of soap making. Thus Lilasuds was born! I wanted to make soaps that were fun and creative because for the longest time taking showers was painful and boring.
