Linda Wright is of Gwich’in decent, originally from Inuvik, Northwest Territories and comes from a family of artists. Expressing herself artistically since childhood, surrounded by the beauty of nature, growing up in the north was her initial inspiration.
Throughout her life, Wright has worked in and travelled to many communities in the Western Arctic and Sahtu regions, creating a true appreciation for the unique landscapes and cultures of the north. Her career goals have always included art and design. She studied and worked in the fields of Graphic Design and Arts and Cultural Management.
Her artwork is strongly influenced by the beauty of nature. Linda's beliefs and values are firmly rooted in the arctic land her family originates from. Through art, Linda intends to develop a sense of appreciation for the north and provide an insight into Gwich’in oral storytelling traditions. Wright uses curvilinear lines and vibrant colors to create unique northern landscapes. Her narrative highlights the legends and stories of the Gwich’in people and touches on the importance of protecting the environment. Linda's ideas represent her dreams, culture, land, vision and reality.
