An idea must start in the imagination, it starts as a fantasy-- as an illusion. Putting it into the physical world is making the vision a reality: so art, in that sense, is the bridge between one realm and the next, the mode by which ideas are translated from the inner world to the outer (physical) world. So when you put that art into the public eye, then they interpret it and ask about it- "what does it mean? this new way, what is it?" Asking these kinds of questions raises the public, the collective, the zietgeist to a higher plane of consciousness, thus evolving the collective and actually changing the world. Therefore, creativity is an evolutionary force.
