Photography – Raleigh
I am a Photographer. I know, not exactly breaking news but as simple as the statement is, for me, being a photographer is laced with complications, chased by confusion and surrounded by anxiety. Truth be known, I wouldn’t have it any other way. With a camera in my hands I’m a better me - without a camera… yeah let’s not go there.
I have been taking pictures for so long it’s hard for me to remember a time when I didn’t have a camera in my hands or at least close by. I’m self-taught… just so you know all the greats say that, and my close friends “Trial & Error” have been my greatest teachers.
Someone once told me that if I spent all my time focusing on the shot in front of me I’d miss the beautiful shot waiting to be captured behind me. So I try shooting the world around me with those words in mind, one frame at a time.
In closing (I’m trying to be formal about this, I mean really, it’s RAW), photography has become my expression as well as my voice. It’s my way of speaking to the world; I just pray that the world is accepting of what I have to say. Either way…
I refuse to be defined by yesterday, rendered equal to the day at hand, or held captive by the unknown that tomorrow will bring. I am Marques Haven ~
