Mia Chai

Specializing in oil painting and digital art, Mia Chai uses her art as a spiritual way to express her inner world and rediscover her self after living through other people’s expectations of her. She uses bold colors and fluid, ever changing line work to show the juxtaposition between the light and darkness in her. Her art is influenced by the concepts of masking who you really are, the idea of being seen and unseen aspects of ourselves, themes of balancing our shadow and inner light, and Mixing elements of realism with cartoony 2d stylistic elements, Mia uses this as a way to express how she views her inner world. Her work is a way of processing her own emotions that have been deemed not acceptable for others, so in each piece you can feel the deep emotion breathed into it. Each piece is a reminder of the importance of emoting and how necessary it is. Many emotions are demonized, but they are all apart of us and it’s important to sit with each one.
