Visual Art – Detroit

I've been an art lover since I can remember, pouring over (and coloring in - sorry mom!) as many children's books and fairy tales as I could get my little hands on. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of visiting my Nana at her sun-drenched home in South Carolina, where she worked from home as a freelance graphic designer. She radiated joy and magic, and her home reflected that. What I remember most vividly though, is a big yellow wood carving of the sun she placed carefully above the door in the entryway, smiling peacefully at everyone entering or leaving her home. Ever since then I've been drawn to artwork of the sun and moon with similar big, expressive faces. She shared so many beautiful things with me, and ignited my passion for art. I saw how beautifully she used her creativity and artistry in her own life and shared it with others, and I strive to do the same. My works are dedicated to the romantic wildflowers, dreamers, free-spirited stargazers, lovers of tiny treasures. Those who seek out beauty and love to surround themselves in it. If you’re looking for a little sunshine, or moonlight, to comfort your soul or to share with your loved ones, my art is for you. For more, visit my website: www.micailahorning.art
