Visual Art – Montréal
My name is Mimmo Scali, I am a local artist from Montréal. My art is influenced by a modern artistic approach along with contemporary pop art. Bringing forward the past while fusing the present has always been my main concern when creating. The conventional way to paint is on canvas; I grew up watching my father build his Sofa Company in our basement, which is now Sofa Design .inc . Because of this I had access to many different patterns and materials that I otherwise would not have been exposed to. I began to paint and design directly on pillows, handbags, and couches! Anything I could find that I could transform I made my own. Interior design has so much potential to please the eye esthetically and yet we often stick to dull and generic furniture for our homes and look, instead of something that represents and resembles us. Inspiration in our generation differs quite a bit; we have access to sites such as Facebook and Instagramm and with a click of a button we continue to inspire one another.
