Misti Lewis
Music – Nashville
Singer, songwriter, guitarist, engineer, and guitar addict Misti Lewis is a jack of all trades. Born just an hour east of Memphis, Tennessee, it’s no surprise that rock has always run through her blood. As a young child, she put on concerts for her parents in her living room. She would even dictate songs and stories to anyone who would write them down for her. She picked up the guitar at the age of 13 and never looked back. Any performance opportunity she had, she took. School plays, talents shows, church bands - you name it, Misti played or sang in it. Once she got to college, Misti discovered the thrill of engineering in a recording studio. She found her passion. That passion took her to Nashville after college, where she interned at the historic Studio 19 and made lifelong friendships and connections.
A brief sabbatical from living in Nashville forced Misti to rediscover her roots and to rediscover who she was as a musician. She honed her skills as a writer and began playing open mic nights and a few small shows in her hometown. Some time in Memphis allowed Misti to be part of an all-female punk band Hello Alice. While the band never got out of its rehearsal space before disbanding, the connection Misti made with drummer Tracy Smith and the material they worked on together made an impact on Misti’s musical future: rock music - and punk rock specifically - was her passion.
After relocating back to Nashville, Misti reconnected with renowned producer and musician Bruce Dees, who hired her on as his studio assistant and record label’s Logistics Manager. In turn, Misti entrusted Bruce with the thing that was most precious to her: her music. In April of 2022, Misti, Bruce, and friends Alex Shames and Nick DiStefano went back to where it all began - Studio 19. With the great Kyle Hershman behind the board, Misti knew she’d finally found her place and her people. In September of 2022, Misti played her first show in six years and made her Nashville debut. Misti and Bruce are working hard on getting those first two songs out and are making plans to go back in the studio in the near future. Sit back and stay tuned - it’s going to be a fun ride!
