Women are anything but ordinary and because of this I had the audacity to start my own line of jewelry. I’m Melonie, designer and owner of MoonRocs. Bold jewelry has been a fascination of mine since I was a child. My mother was a performer/singer and I’d totally lose myself in her collection of jewelry that seemed at the time larger than life itself. Somehow those baubles from my past helped defined my character over the years and I draw inspiration from these for every piece I create. To design something I knew a women would wear, I first had to define who she was. She’s ambitious, smart, committed and compassionate. She’s creative, enthusiastic, powerful and independent. She’s a leader but a humble one with both vision and determination. She’s loud and outspoken, bold and tough. She’s wild but has balance, funny but knows when to be serious and most of all she’s a risk-taker. I became a jewelry designer because it reminded me of my past, I remain a jewelry designer because my pieces give like-minded women an exclamation point at the end of their sentence.
