Visual Art – Washington, D.C.

I was born in San Salvador, El Salvador in 1983. When I was 3, I immigrated to the United States and lived in New York City for a short time. I loved the city as a child but alas, my mother did not. After leaving the city behind, I moved to Maryland where I went on to attend the University of Maryland and received my Bachelors of Art in Art Studio in 2006. While at the University of Maryland, I also studied biology and became fascinated with the biology of flora. Due to the scientific aspects of biology and the intricate workings of how life fits together, some of my work looks vastly different. It looks like two distinct painters when some of my paintings are displayed side-by-side. My paintings can range from abstract enlarged blossoms to complicated representational pieces. I have been drawing and painting since I was very young. I started off like any other normal child and loved to draw my creations with crayons on walls. I have evolved to oils and acrylics on hand-made canvases. Recently, I have dipped into the world of body painting and I think of the human body just like another piece of canvas. I think that anything can be made into a beautiful canvas no matter the challenge.
